Hydrotechnical Engineer
The hydraulic engineer is responsible for designing hydraulic systems and ensuring that all hydraulic components will work as intended, dealing with the control and flow of fluids, especially water, and using the theory and principles of fluid mechanics to deal with problems related to storage, collection, transportation, control, regulation, etc. The hydraulic engineer studies the environment, water, its forces and helps create concepts and design structures to support the given purpose. He/she generally uses software programs related to hydrologic modeling and data analysis to make his/her job easier.
Responsibilities:
- Designs, maintenance, implementation or improvement of instruments, objects, components, products of equipment or systems for industrial, commercial or domestic purposes.
- Performs a wide range of engineering tasks using computer-aided design or engineering software and equipment.
- Ensurs that installation and operation are in accordance with customer standards and requirements by preparing hydro system specifications, technical drawings or topographical maps.
- Creates construction, manufacturing or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations.
- Ensures compliance with specifications, codes or customer requirements by directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, documentation, support or testing activities.
- Writes reports and compiling data related to existing and potential hydrotechnical engineering projects and studies.
- Prepares of specifications for the purchase of hydrotechnical equipment and materials.
- Supervises or train project team members.
- Estimats the cost of material, labor or construction for budget preparation.
- Plans, design, cost estimation and field support for hydrotechnical projects
- Prepares of tender documents and offer packages
- Creates of 3D printed models of spillways and hydraulic structures
- Familiarity with drainage design and flood mapping studies
- Experience with sedimentation reduction solutions and flood risk assessment
- Demonstrated ability to build, maintain and foster relationships with clients and contractors
- Works with a variety of technicians.
- Designes systems and products using computer software
- Carries out feasibility studies for new technical developments
- Budgeting and estimating timelines
- Supervises of technicians and support workers
- Tests of installations and systems
- Ensurs projects that meet safety regulations
- Supervises of inspection and maintenance programs
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, Experience
- University degrees – in, profile engineering, Hydroengineering,
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering, design or implementation.
- Analytical skills, resistant to stress.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Ability to organize work and manage time.
- Good written and verbal communicator
- Very good knowledge of the English language, knowledge of any other language is an advantage
